Dead lift article via www.neilmct.com August 10th, 2008 at 23:38

Thanks to the older bro for sending this my way. A great article on pin pointing the flaws in your dead lift. You might struggle getting it past the knees or with the lock out at the top. This could shed some light on how to fix it....

Brian Irwin via www.neilmct.com July 27th, 2008 at 20:55

This guy went to my school and I have crossed paths with him in different gyms over the years. A genetically gifted individual who makes heavy weights seem like painted polystyrene discs! Check out this 345kg Dead lift which he pulls relatively easy. (Brian has previously competed against the likes of Marius Pud. and Jesse Marunde in the Worlds Strongest Man...

Rachael ‘Pocket Rocket’ Johnston via www.neilmct.com December 1st, 2007 at 20:33

As many of you know, the missus was going for her first ever Power lifting competition today. I would just like to say thanks to everyone who showed their support. Rach lifted a total of 275 kg over three lifts today (she needed to beat 270kg) - this qualifies her for her next competition. This is when we see about really setting records. As it was her first comp we didn't go 'balls out' on the weights and instead had Rach going for capable targets - bench press - bodyweight - 55kgsquat - 92.5kgdead lift - 127.5 kgShe set new records for all 3 lifts in the 56kg category and although she is still classed as a junior, set 2 new senior records at this weight. I am waiting for some video footage to get mailed through to me and I will add that to the blogwhen I get it.Thanks again...

Poll Results ! via www.neilmct.com August 9th, 2007 at 00:10

Your Favourite Exercise -1st - Bench Press - 25% of total votes2nd - Squat - 23%3rd - Dead lift - 22%4th - Body weight Exercises - such as chins and dips5th - Shoulder Press (my favourite- I love any shoulder variations)6th - Other - anything not already mentioned aboveIts great to see that the majority of my blog readers are truly hardcore. I had expected bench press to come first as it is the daddy of all 'disco muscle' exercises but I'm very impressed that the testosterone boosting body transformers like the squats and deads where hot on the heels of the number one favourite.Bench Press Standards - taken from EXRX and measured in pounds(2.2 pounds = 1kg / 1 stone = 14 pounds)Bench Press - Adult Men Body Weight Un-trained Novice...

Rachael Deadlifting after Squat Workout via www.neilmct.com August 6th, 2007 at 19:00

After posting the squat videos people were saying they would like to see a good deadlift video, and in that video show more than just one angle. As Rachael is better looking than me I asked her to demonstrate this awesome exercise. You can leg press all the weights and be king of the tricep machine but if you cant squat and deadlift some decent weights you shouldnt even be reading this blog - you...

Rachael update via www.neilmct.com July 24th, 2007 at 21:20

Rachael never got to compete in June as we where both in London for my competition. Hopefully she will have a bench press competition next month and a full competition in September consisting of all the lifts - bench , squat , dead lift (dead lift being her best)Her 'raw' bench press recently surpassed body weight giving her an actual bench of 55kg at a body weight of 52kg - on the day in a bench shirt she should be hitting 60g plus no probs...

Deadlifting Competition via www.neilmct.com March 25th, 2007 at 22:32

A good friend of mine is the head coach for the Northern Irish Powerlifting Team so Rachael and I went up to watch a few of his guys compete.Id only ever been to bodybuilding shows so it was good to have a look at the strength side of things, especially for the missus as she will be winning the next competition. :-)As seen in the pic there were young guys there aged 14, right up to master level guys. The best lift of the day was 300kg - impressive.Ill keep everyone posted on Rachaels training and future competitions. Might even go for one...
